Weekend Sewing #12 and "big news"

I hope you had some nice christmas holidays? We had the best time with family, good food, cookies, playing with the Lego train and some games. At the end of last week I took the time to read through my blog list and I've gathered some beautiful stuff for you. However, due to soem technical issues, the post is a bit delated or let's say it's just really early ;) Enjoy! Oh, and I hope you'll have a nice new year's eve and a wonderful new year.

Weekend sewing #11

Christmas is getting closer and time to spare at the computer is getting less. Thus, this week's weekend sewing post is a short one. But there is still some sewing goodness that I want to share...

Weekend sewing #10

Welcome to another weekend sewing post. As there were no weekend sewing posts the last two weeks and as I still have only little time to blog, I decided to do this post without pics. It would take too much time to ask permission to publish other blogger's pics... Nonetheless I hope you'll enjoy what I gathered for you.

Pepperbikes-Geburtstagsshirt (-birthday shirt)

Some weeks ago my niece turned two. In addition to this book about ducks, which are her favorite animals, she also got a birthday shirt with a very special fabric: My sister has a bicycle company, pepperbikes, i. e. she composes the bikes (frame, brakes, gears etc.), orders them from her provider and then sells them over the internet and during summer time directly at the industrial selling in Ottobeuren. If you are looking for a new bike, I really recommend to check out her site (especially the advent calender with special prices). My sister is really bike crazy, all her bikes are of high quality and the price is fair as the bikes are sold directly. Well, enough advertising, back to the fabric. I had asked my sister quite some time ago for a jpg-picture of her favorite bike (a racing bike), uploaded it at Stoffschmie.de (german version of spoonflower) and had them print it on jersey. The quality of the fabric is great and don't you think that the bikes on the fabric are looking really fun?

Black Friday 2013

Hey girls, it's black friday. And almost all shops in the US are offering dicounts. Most online shops are in, too. Therefore, today I give you some links to these offers instead of doing a normal weekend sewing post for which I don't have the time as work, decorating for christmas, christmas market, sledging and similar want to be done... But maybe you want to use todays discounts to get some patterns or fabrics that you'll need for the next weekend sewing inspiration? Btw: Miri asked me to do a post about sizes in english patterns. So that's something that'll be on the blog next week. Keep your eyes open...

Mit Mamina bei RUMS - A Mamina for RUMS

I told you already in the last weekend sewing post that I last weekend I met with some nice girls for a day full of sewing, talking and laughter. Thanks to Betti, Marion, Cordula, Vio and especially Miri for the wonderful day. The days before I had thought what I want to sew. First I thought about sewing something for my little girl, but then I decided to do some selfish sewing. The result I show you today for RUMS.

Unterhemden-Parade und hosh pants - Underwear and hosh pants...

Also ran an die Nähmaschine.

Uh, it's freezing! Therefore, it was time that our little girl finally got some undershirts that are long enough and don't always slip out of the pants. Surprisingly this is something that is impossible to buy. Whenever we buy one it's too short. Well, time for the sewing machine. I used the basic tank by ki-ba-doo.

Weekend sewing #9

Puh, what a week. A lot of chaos connected to my work, an ill baby and all time bad weather and thus, not even the chance to take pics of those things that I've sewn already some time ago and that are waiting to be blogged. Let's hope the weather will be better next week...
At least I was able o check out some blogs and thus, have a new weekend sewing post for you - this time finally with pictures (at least if the original bloggers agreed and answered me in time...). This makes it much more fun! I also had my "weekend sewing" yesterday. I met with 5 other girls for a whole day of sewing together. Thank you girls for the fun. I'll hopefully be able to show you what I sewed next week (again let's pray for better weather...)!

Film petit

If there's just one thing that you want to check out from the things that I show you today, I guess you should check out these links here. Film petit is purely amazing. Jessica from A little gray and Kristin from Skirt as Top sew almost each month, together with changing guest bloggers (this time Rae from Made by Rae), clothes that are inspired by different movies. Their kids model this by re-enecting scenes from the movies. This time they chose "Zoolander" and the pics are simply incredible. I laughed so hard that I cried!

Weekend sewing #8

Zeit für neue Nähinspiration. Viel Spaß beim Schmökern.

Time for some more sewing inspiration. Have fun checking out the links.

Was für's Auge - Eye candy

* The pattern blog tour of the Winter-Wonderland collection of Pattern Anthology is still running: Here my highlights: This hat by Jess, the Sewing Rabbit, I'd absolutely wear in my size and the lace inlet in her Sweet Bonnie Top is stunning. And Lexi from Lexi Made, who won 2nd place in the last season of project run and play, outdid herself again: She not only sewed 5 of the 8 patterns (two of them even two times for her twin daughters), but also shows how to make a beautiful winter/x-mas photo session in your garage. At Feather's Flights you can see what I think is the coolest blazer ever!
* Annie truely is the queen of application: This bag in the lower jaw of the appliqued viking head is just too fun.
* This self-made baby carrier is more beautiful than almost every carrier that can be bought out there!
* Just on of the highlights of the Scandinavian Style Sewing Series: Thes chic pants with floral print and the polka dot jacket by Elsie Marley

Sommer ist was in deinem Kopf passiert #2 - summer feeling #2

It's getting really cold in Germany. I'm in a desperate need for some warm thoughts and have, thus, decided to do another summer feeling post. Here, I show you some pics from a summer - outfit that I sewed already last winter for a project run and play sew along entry. For the photo shoot we had a little picnic in the house - something that my little one loves to do!

Weekend sewing #7

This week's blog posts were amazing as always. Here are my highlights:

Was für's Auge - Eye candy

* You can find a fun new basic pattern at lillesol und pelle that can be used for both a rain or a winter coat
* skirt as top shows that a pencil skirt can look great also when you are pregnant
* Do you like the Fanfare fabric line just as I do? Don't know what I'm talking about? Then check out this post where Rae, the designer, shows off two cozy outfits that she made for her children
* Will you travel to Portugal next summer? Then you should check out Marta's blog "do guincho"  regularly. She'll introduce her favorite fabric stores...

Weekend sewing #6

Dann schaut mal was ich so alles gefunden habe:

This time the "weekend sewing" is a little bit belated as I still don't have a working computer. But the last two hours my daughter was at a puppet play (Peterson and Findus) with her grandma and so I had time to read through my blog list at my in-law's computer. Check out all the goodies that I found:

Was für's Auge - Eye candy

* das allercoolste (Malbuch) - Kleid bei welcome to the mouse house
* So ein schöner Herbststoff bei enemenemeins
* Schöner Pulli und schöne Fotos bei Hanna Purzel

* Some cool clothes for boys at Frau Liebstes
* A cute kitty skirt at sewpony

* A fun autumn fabric at enemenemeins
* A beautiful sweater and amazing pics at Hanna Purzel

Kids Clothes Week (fall 2013) day 4

Do you know what is worse than one broken computer? Yes: Two broken computers (+ one broken cell phone). During the last two weeks not just our normaler notebook quit work, but also our older one that we had kept for problems of such kind and my husband's cellphone. Obviously, that wasn't ideal to stay up to date with KCW blogging. Also, I had plans to sew something for R at the weekend that I hadn't sewn before and for which I would have needed the instructions - on my computer. That didn't happen. Well, I can at least show you one more thing from last week.

Weekend Sewing #5

Just a tiny weekend sewing post today. I need the time for sewing... (I'll do the next KCW post tomorrow as it's a birthday present...)

Was für's Auge - Eye candy

* let's have a look at another stop of the Bimaa blog tour. As always Celina has made the most amazing garment.
* If you're interested in some thoughts about work/life balance and want to see some pics that'll make you smile, go to mesewcrazy

Kids Clothes Week (fall 2013) day 3

And the kids clothes sewing continues. This time I want to show you a my daughter's favourite cardigan which I "rescued" and another allover print shirt for my son. How I rescued the cardi? Well, there are those clothes that R loves, but that have some stains. Some time ago R and I, thus, looked through my scraps and she chose the pic of a little girl. I only had to sit down and to hide the stain with the application. Well, it took me 3 weeks (5 minutes sewing).

Kids Clothes Week (fall 2013) day2

So, let's dig into day 2 of KCW. At least the second day that I show you. Obviously it's already the third day of sewing. Again I sewed for my son and again I used the Bimaa pattern. This time I even made two sweaters, one with the hoodie and one with the shawl collar. I purchased the fabrics for both in spring at the Dutch fabric market in Munich.

Kids Clothes Week (fall 2013) day 1

It's here. Kids Clothes Week is running and moms all over the world are filling the wardrobes of their children with handmade items. Unfortunately, my computer is not working since saturday. Thus, blogging is hardend quite a bit. But I realized that having no internet can infact be a pro: I have already sewn almost all items that I hoped to sew during the whole week :) Well, the posts this week will be really short and I won't be able to edit the pictures. But I'm lucky in so far that my in-laws live close and I can at least shortly show what I've done.

I'm in love ;) Die große Kapuze ist einfach toll.

So I got some pics. for you from two shirts that I sewed on monday. The first shirt is my very first Bimaa Hoodie. I'm in love! The oversized hood is just great. The instructions were perfect and the result is just fun. I added some elbow patches. I just eyeballed where to put them and it worked quite well.
I don't reveal to much when I tell you that you'll see this week 2-3 further Bimaas (also the other neck variations: shawl and infinity cowl).

G wie "Graphic Wiksten Tova" - G is for "Graphic Wiksten Tova"

Finally another blog post. I didn't have any spare time the last days. However, today I just take the time to write a short post and to participate in all those nice series out there.

Weekend sewing #3

It's Friday again and that means we're up for another round of "Weekend sewing". Have fun checking out the links and I hope you'll find some inspiration for your own sewing.

Serien, Wettbewerbe und sew-alongs - Series, competitions and sew-alongs

Meine Highlights:
* sew a straight line mit einem 1775 (!!!) inspirierten Outfit
* dieses 50er Jahre Kleid von nine stitches
* und ein pencil-skirt von Beth Being Crafty
Schaut doch mal beim sew along vorbei und gebt eure Stimme ab

F wie "Fantastisches Casual Lady Pattern" / F is for "Fantastic Casual Lady Pattern"

Go To Patterns genäht hab.

Today just a short blog post, which I hope to finish before my son finishes his nap. These are two shirts sewn from the Casual Lady pattern by Go To Patterns. It has cap sleeves and the neck and arm hole are finished with facing. Thus it gives a very clean product. I first sewed the black-pink shirt using an old black tee from my husband and a pink jersey sheet from my in-laws as I wanted to check the size. I sewed a size L and the fit is perfect. I really like the slightly fitted at the waist and opens up towards the hips. Perfect for my body shape. Afterwards I sewed with the beautiful birds fabric and this turned out to be one of my favorite shirts this summer. The instructions of the pattern are very detailed and step by step and I love that sewing knit with the normal sewing machine is explained, too. This definitely is my favorite women knit pattern so far. It was such a fast and easy sew, yet the result is really beautiful. Even my mum wants me to make the exact same shirt for her.
Well, here are the pics. I hope you like the shirts...

Sommer ist was in deinem Kopf passiert #1 / Summer feeling #1

Well, I know: Summer is over. However, there are many things from my "pre-blog-life" that I'd like to show you. Thus, I've decided to let you enjoy some "summer feeling" on my blog during the next weeks.

Weekend sewing #2

So, wieder ne Woche rum. Also, was solltet ihr euch unbedingt anschauen?

Another week is over. Have I gotten around to do all the things that I wanted to (like finally finishing the header for the blog)? No, not all. Well, that's no surprise as I had to check out so many wonderful blogs... So, which posts should you have a look at?

Serien, Wettbewerbe und sew-alongs - Series, competitions and sew-alongs

This was the last week of Project Run and Play: Signature Style Week. The designers were great as always and the sew along didn't disappoint either. My favorite is this blouse. You can get the pattern at Compagnie M. I'll most probably "have" to buy it some day. Also: Check out the free pattern at Compagnie M.

PR&P Signature Style: Go bold or go home

It's the last week of Project Run and Play and that means "Signature Style".

Starting today I will show you every or at least almost every friday what goodies I found in sewing blogs around the world during the last week. And who knows: Maybe one of the links will inspire you to do a "weekend sewing" project.

Was?

First things first: The new dates for kids clothes week (KCW) have been announced: Mark the October 21 to 27 in your calender. This is the week to sew your child's fall wardrobe. What? You do not know what KCW is? Then go check it out right away. People from all over the world will spend one hour each day during this week sewing clothes for their kids. And you can be sure: There's a lot of awesomeness heading your way!

Außerdem ist gerade die 3. Woche von Project run and play.
* diesen schönen Mantel von Frances and Suzanne

It's the third week of Project run and play (you have seen my sew along entries here and here). This weeks theme is "Mad for plaid". Some posts that you just have to look at are:
* of course what the designers did:
* this beautiful coat by Frances and Suzanne
* that cool bather by Sew Pony
* this whole outfit and the stunning photography by Daisies and Dresses

While next week is the last week of project run and play (PRAP), it is also the first week of Project Sewn. While PRAP means sewing for your kids, the designers at Project Sewn, sew for themselves. Again there is a sew-along and again I'm sure that some major eye-candy is heading our way. You can check out the schedule for the up-coming weeks here. I went already fabric shopping and hope to sew something for at least two of the four weeks...

 Flip This Pattern

Last but not least another series that you have to check out! Frances and Suzanne have chosen patterns for each month within one year that all of us should "flip". Turn a vest into a dress, a shirt into a jacket etc. So long there have been amazing ideas! This month's pattern is Sunki by Figgy.

Mad for plaid #2

Here I have another post for "Mad for plaid" at project run and play. This one, however, is not to be entered in the sew-along contest as it was sewn about one year ago for R to wear at my nieces blessing. Back then I didn't have a blog and now that I have one I want to show most of the things that I've made in the last 1-2 years (which is when I started sewing). This whole outfit just fits too well to the Mad for plaid theme and so I'm taking the chance to show it in the link party.

Mad for plaid #1

The 3rd week of project run and play is on. This week's theme is "mad for plaid". I'm sewing along again. This time doing an "upcycle": An old fannel button-up of my husband turned into a vest and 3/4 length pants for my daughter.

Both patterns are from a Burda kids magazine from summer 2012.

The vest lining is a cotton from buttinette and I used the same fabric for applications on the vest and pants. You'll see it again in some other posts in the near future.

Just some last pics to show how things worked out at the seams. It's not perfect, but I'm quite content with the result.

Last but not least I'm linking this with some link parties: creadienstag, isew and project run and play.

Kaleidoscope pattern test

Some weeks ago I had the great opportunity to test one of Kate's new fall patterns, the Kaleidoscope top. This was my second time of pattern testing for Kate (I'll show you pics of the other test soon) and again I had a lot of fun while sewing. The top is a loose fitting, boxy top with banded sleeves. It is a really easy and fast sew that can totally be your first knit sewing experience. I do not have a serger and sewed it entirely on my Elna sewing machine using a stretch stitch. This way the seams are unfinished, but the shirt is not something that I want to sell and R doesn't really care what it looks from the inside...

I was in the first round of testers after which Kate changed the pattern again quite a bit. The final version is a lot shorter and there is an additional elastic hemline and a optional bow at the front included. I'm sure that these changes also give a darling outfit, though for me no changes would have been necessary. I like the more tunic, casual look a lot, but will surely also try the final version which Kate kindly gave to all testers (Stay tuned for that one). Our neighbor, the mother of R's best friend also liked the top a lot. She told me that she'd want one for herself - though without the owls ;)

Allerdings ohne Eulen ;)

Well, this truely is another thing, that is "made with love"...

Smarties Geburtstagsshirt / Smarties birthday tee

For her 4th birthday I decided to sew R a shirt and some things to go with it. When the themes for this season of project run and play were published, I got to think that maybe I could do one of the themes for her birthday. To tell you the truth: The candy was chosen after a long look at my different fabrics. I loved this fabric that Pamela Hilti (enemenemeins) has designed for lillestoff. And then it hit me: this really is a smarties fabric and thus, perfect for my little girl for whom a birthday without a smarties birthday cake wouldn't be a birthday. Well, it was set: She would get a smarties birthday tee.

I used Rae's flashback skinny tee pattern and was not disappointed. Sewing a shirt from this pattern was actually the very first knit sewing project that I tackled last year (I'll show this some time the next weeks/months). Back then the fit was almost to skinny, but I guess the upcycled sweater knit was just not stretchy enough. This time I used a size 4T and it is perfect. A slim fit, but still comfy. The instructions were very detailed and helped me to sew a really professional looking garment on my normal sewing machine (I don't own a serger). I really love the result.

As fall has definitely arrived in Germany, I decided to also make a infinity scarf. I followed Ina's great video tutorial, but used my own measurements as I wanted the scarf to be really close to her neck. I further made a beanie using the free farbenmix Bettina pattern and the instructions by Kaddi. I wasn't sure if they would fit, but both the loop and the beanie are spot on (Sorry for the missing photo of R wearing the beanie, but I decided to not show her face on this blog...).

R loves her whole new outfit and all the other children at the Kindergarten, which btw is not the same as the US Kindergardens, really liked the appliqued 4.

Oh, and last but not least: This year's smarties birthday cake.

Und zum Abschluss noch den heutigen Smarties-Geburtstagskuchen.

P.S. Sorry for the bad pictures (flash and so on), but it was rainy all day and there was no way to get a pic without the flash.
